Are all your smoothies pedal powered?
Yes, every single smoothie we blend is blended on the smoothie bikes using pedal power.
What ingredients do you use?
We have many different smoothie options depending on the seasonal produce available at the time. All our fresh produce is sourced locally from the farmers in the region. The most common fruits used include banana, strawberries, acai berry, mango, pineapple & watermelon.
We have both milk based and apple juice based smoothies. We carry a variety of milks to cater for everyone’s dietary requirements. Our milk options are cow, soy, rice and oat. Almond and coconut milk can be supplied at an additional cost per smoothie. Please specify this in the booking form.
We add South American superfoods to the smoothies including cacao powder, maca powder, mesquite powder, & acai powder. We also use ground sunflower seeds and almonds, cinnamom and cardamon. The sweeteners we use are honey and agave syrup. Natural yoghurt and mint are also used. So many yummy ingredients. Super greens powder and pea protein can be supplied at an additional cost per smoothie. Please specify this in the booking form.
Check out the menu section for a full list of the smoothies we are currently pedaling and info on all the ingredients we use.
Are all the ingredients you use Organic?
Yes, every single ingredient we use is 100% certified Organic.
How long does it take to pedal a smoothie and can we pedal our own?
It only takes roughly 30 seconds to pedal your smoothie. We encourage all our customers to blend their own and most do! It tastes better and feels great and makes for a great photo. We are also extremely happy to pedal it for you if you prefer or are unable to do so. We will even pose for a happy snap as well.
Do you need power?
No, all our smoothies are blended using pedal power and our ingredients are kept cold in big eskies.
What other ways are you eco friendly?
We use 100% biodegradable and compostable cups and waxed paper straws. We recycle and compost our waste where possible and we send our empty juice bottles to Northey Street Edible Nursery to be filled up with seaweed liquid fertiliser to feed your veggie patch.
Do you sell the Bikes?
No sorry we don’t but if your keen to give it a crack yourself I highly recommend checking out http://mayapedal.org/
What happens if we have to cancel our event after making the booking?
Not sure yet!
Whats your logistical requirements on the day of the event?
We will need a 3mx3m space for our marquee. Our bikes generally go out the front of our tent, flat ground for the bikes please. (see site layout map). A tap for washup bucket refills within a short walk is required. Car access to the site as much as possible is required as we have some heavy items to unload. We travel with a ute and a trailor. A handy car and trailor space is also required within a short distance from the site. We will arrive 1 hour before the event kicks off to set up and get ready to pedal.
What’s your maximum smoothie number per hour?
This all depends on if we are pedaling or if it’s an interactive experience where the customer pedals. If it’s purely a demonstration for people to see and to enjoy a free smoothie then we could easily prepare 200 smoothies per hour. But if it’s more of an interactive experience where people are to be encouraged to pedal their own then I would suggest perhaps 100 smoothies per hour would be a reasonable figure.
How will the bikes arrive and when?
Included in the hire sum is a free delivery and set up by us. One person will arrive at a time convenient to you with all the gear hired and help you get set up. We travel with a ute and trailor. We will need to be met by at least one person to help unload and to get the rundown on how the bikes work and the ins and outs. I would allow roughly a half hour for this process. If the ute and trailor can’t come all the way into where the gear will be set up then more time should be allocated. If your event falls outside the Brisbane metro area then additional travel fees will be incured.
How many people do we need to man the stall?
I would suggest that you have 1 person with each bike at all times and at least 1 or 2 people inside the stall preparing the smoothies.Included in the hire sum is a free delivery and set up by us. What logistical needs should we keep in mind when planning the day?
First off find out whether you need to get a temporary food license off your council for the day. If you are fundraising normally you won’t need one, but best to check. You won’t be requiring any power, which is always smiled upon by event organisers! Always allow yourself more time than you think to get organised, we usually allow at least 1 hour before the event kicks off to get set up.
