Frequently Asked Questions

Where are you based?

We are based in Brisbane, QLD, Australia. Our packages are available within and around Brisbane, Toowoomba, Gold Coast and the Sunshine Coast. Please note that extra delivery fees apply if your event is 20km outside of the Smoothie Cycle Base (Sherwood, Brisbane, QLD)

Are all your smoothies pedal powered?

Yes, every single smoothie we blend is blended on the smoothie bikes using pedal power.

What smoothies do you have?

We have a variety of organic seasonal smoothie options available.

Please check out the menu section of our website to see what's currently in season.
Please feel free to talk to us if you require any specific dietary options.
We cater for everyone and will definetely be able to work something out with you.

What ingredients do you use?

We have many different smoothie options depending on the seasonal produce available at the time. All our fresh produce is sourced locally from the farmers in the region. The most common fruits used include banana, strawberries, acai berry, mango, pineapple & watermelon. We have both milk based and apple juice based smoothies.

We carry a variety of milks to cater for everyone’s dietary requirements. Our milk options are cow, soy, rice and oat. Almond and coconut milk can be supplied at an additional cost per smoothie. Please specify this in the booking form.

We add South American superfoods to the smoothies including cacao powder, maca powder, mesquite powder, & acai powder. We also use ground sunflower seeds and almonds, cinnamom and cardamon. The sweetener we use is honey. Natural yoghurt and mint are also used. So many yummy ingredients. Super greens powder and pea protein can be supplied at an additional cost per smoothie. Please specify this in the booking form.

Check out the menu section for a full list of the smoothies we are currently pedaling and info on all the ingredients we use.

Are all the ingredients you use organic?

Yes, every single ingredient we use is 100% certified Organic.

How long does it take to pedal a smoothie and can we pedal our own?

It only takes roughly 30 seconds to pedal your smoothie. We encourage all our customers to blend their own and most do! It tastes better and feels great and makes for a great photo. We are also extremely happy to pedal it for you if you prefer or are unable to do so. We will even pose for a happy snap as well.

What’s your maximum smoothie number per hour?

This all depends on if we are pedaling or if it’s an interactive experience where the customer pedals. If it’s purely a demonstration for people to see and to enjoy a free smoothie then we could easily prepare 200 smoothies per hour.

But if it’s more of an interactive experience where people are to be encouraged to pedal their own then I would suggest perhaps 100 smoothies per hour would be a reasonable figure.

Can kids ride the bikes?

We have both Adult and Kids bikes. The kids bikes are tailored for 5 and up's. We can supply either or both bikes for your event as required. Please just specify your requirements in the booking form.

How big are your cups?

Our pacakages are based on our 8oz cup which is 240ml.

We do have a 16oz size cup which is 470ml or taste tester size cups which is 50ml.
If you would rather one of these cup sizes please just specify in the booking form.

What other ways are you eco friendly?

We use 100% biodegradable and compostable cups. We recycle and compost our waste where possible and we send our empty juice bottles to Northey Street Edible Nursery to be filled up with seaweed liquid fertiliser to feed your veggie patch.

My event does not fit into the existing packages. What do I do?

Please just fill out the booking form and add all your extra requirements in. Or if this doesn't seem to be working out just email me and we can sort it out toegther. The packages are basically just a guidline. We are very flexible and happy to cater to your needs. We aim to please!

What happens if we have to cancel our event after making the booking?

not sure yet!

Do you need power?

No, all our smoothies are blended using pedal power and our ingredients are kept cold in big eskies.

Whats your logistical requirements on the day of the event?

  • We will need a 3x3m space for our marquee.
  • Our bikes generally go out the front of our tent, flat ground for the bikes please. (see site layout map).
  • A tap for wash up bucket refills within a short walk is handy but not essential.
  • Car access to the site as much as possible is required as we have some heavy items to unload. We travel with a ute and a trailer.
  • A handy car and trailer space is also required within a short distance from the site.
  • We will arrive 1 hour before the event kicks off to set up and get ready to pedal.

If I am just hiring the bikes how will they arrive and when?

  • Included in the hire sum is a free delivery and set up by us.
  • One person will arrive at a time convenient to you with all the gear hired and help you get set up. We travel with a ute and trailer.
  • We will need to be met by at least one person to help unload and to get the rundown on how the bikes work and the ins and outs.
  • Allow roughly 30 minutes for this process.
  • Extra delivery fees apply if your event is 20km outside of the Smoothie Cycle Base (Sherwood, Brisbane, QLD)

If we are running the bikes by ourselves what logistical needs should we keep in mind when planning the day?

  • First off find out whether you need to get a temporary food license off your council for the day. If you are fundraising normally you won’t need one, but best to check.
  • You won’t be requiring any power, which is always smiled upon by event organisers!
  • Always allow yourself more time than you think to get organised
  • We usually allow at least 1 hour before the event kicks off to get set up.
  • Flat ground is always best, especially for the bikes.

If we are running the bikes by ourselves how many people do we need to man the stall?

  • I would suggest that you have 1 person with each bike at all times and at least 1 or 2 people inside the stall preparing the smoothies.
  • Included in the hire sum is a free delivery and set up by us. One person will arrive at a time convenient to you with all the gear hired and help you get set up. We travel with a ute and trailer.
  • We will need to be met by at least one person to help unload and to get the rundown on how the bikes work and the ins and outs.
  • I would allow roughly a half hour for this process. Extra delivery fees apply if your event is 20km outside of the Smoothie Cycle Base (Sherwood, Brisbane, QLD)

Who makes your bikes?

Our bikes are lovingly upcycled by a myriad of friends and relations. The Smoothie Cycle is an environmental conscious business and we are always looking for ways to reduce our footprint. The beauty of upcycling our bikes is that each smoothie bike has it's own unique character and set of quirks!

Do you sell the Bikes?

We do not sell the bikes. But if your keen to give it a crack yourself I highly recommend checking out http://mayapedal.org/

Do you sell your smoothies anywhere?

We occasionally do set up our stall and sell smoothies at a local market or festival or school fair, not as much now as we did before having kids! Keep an eye on our facebook page for any upcoming events we might be pedaling at.
